This episode is a profound and symbolic account of three decades of spiritual endeavor undertaken by a being who regards himself as an intermediary between the realm of concrete Form and the realm of formless Content. Yet he voices a deep disillusionment at humanity's indifference to the higher meanings of existence — at their submersion in material attractions and the realm of Form, and their pursuit of the mirage of "acquisition" and mere "havingness" (possession devoid of essence). In the end, with a heart wounded by the betrayal and ingratitude of companions who chose the path of becoming ordinary adults, he announces the conclusion of his tenure as a teacher and returns to the world of dreams and the eternal assembly of the Teachers.
