Article 13: Prescriptive Guidance

I am with you to review and examine the thirteenth article together. The title I have designated for this article is "Prescriptive Guidance". In the introduction, it must be said that this article wants to expand the discussion of "Ontological Guidance" and describe the stage after it. In Ontological Guidance, we saw that human experiences reception; meaning as an internal capability, in confrontation with what happens in front of them, they have a kind of reception and perception. In the continuation, we want to examine another capability, and that is the discussion of "Prescriptive Guidance"; a stage in which the individual who has had the initial receptions and obtained concepts now wants to use this capability and examine their mental findings in the shaped world. Meaning the path traversed from the shapeless world toward the shaped world; but with what capability and assets? With those same concepts given to the individual and inspired in them. So the individual enters the shaped world and now is in search of having a definition and description of their own shaped world. This back-and-forth between the shapeless mental world and the shaped world will be repeated. The result of this back-and-forth will be experiencing multiple paths between the shaped world and the shapeless world. Here it is not bad to also give an explanation of the word "Shari'ah". Shari'ah means a path that human opens toward a river or a large water body so that they can use its water. In this exemplar, that large river can be a symbol of the shapeless world; where the source and fountain of the individual's benefit is. The individual must experience paths to reach the shapeless world and that large river. But what do they obtain from the heart of this large shapeless sea? Concepts; jewels they pull out from the heart of that sea. Why jewels? Because these concepts are valuable. But when the individual returns to the shaped world, they must create a suitable expressive and formulation method for themselves; a collection of new forms with the help of which they can express and state these valuable concepts and the results they have obtained.

Text of the Article

Mental agitation and identity crisis, arising from the lack of peace and harmony within the world of forms, drive the human being toward analytical experience and the extraction of meaning from the shaped world. The innate power of the mind makes one a thinking being. A passive form-based mind, which is bewildered and confused by formal phenomena, moves toward arrangement and order and begins to structure itself. This structured state is a manifestation of prescriptive or legislative guidance.

The output of this active mental structure is reflected in hypotheses, theories, problem formulations, approaches, and systematic experiments. These approaches gradually evolve into specific subject-based rules, which form the foundation of human life and existence. The most significant obstacle to prescriptive guidance is the presence of inactive form-based minds. These minds, in contrast to active minds, rely on habit and repetitive routines. An active mind is a blessing, as it transforms quantitative, form-based living into qualitative, meaningful life — a process that yields positive growth. An inactive mind, however, is a curse, as yielding to it results in a meaningless existence and negative progression.

Positive progression is a movement toward self-knowledge, while negative progression leads to its denial, resulting in confusion and loss.

Explanation of the Article

The article begins like this: "Mental agitation and identity crisis, arising from the lack of peace and harmony within the world of forms, drive the human being toward analytical experience and the extraction of meaning from the shaped world. The innate power of the mind makes one a thinking being." You can search for these explanations again in the introduction I presented. Now, where must the passive form-based mind, which is bewildered and confused by formal phenomena, go? It goes toward a side that creates arrangement and order in the mind; where? In its own form-based mind; because it is completely bewildered and confused, it cannot correctly analyze the events that happen in a shaped way around it. This is the very need that forces it to dive into the shapeless world, in the world of concepts, and struggle so that when it returns, it brings tools with it; meaning those same thoughts, to give order to the existing state.

It is interesting that we have also used the word "structure"; meaning it must organize its thoughts. If this structured state emerges, we say that the person has received "Prescriptive Guidance"; and this is its very sign, why? Because the person has been able, with successive efforts, to create a suitable path between the shaped world—meaning their own form-based mind—and their shapeless mind; meaning they have constructed a "Shari'ah" (path to the source). Now that person can say: I want to speak of Shari'ah, I want to establish Shari'ah, I want to propose laws, I want to explain to others the structure I have obtained.

But we must remember that that order, that structure, and that organization which a thinking person has obtained, does not have to be suitable for all people around them; and for this very reason, thinking people often create limited circles around themselves to place the subject at the disposal of humans who have the capability to understand that structure and organization. What can be the output of this structure? In an active mind: hypothesis, theory, problem formulation, and systematic approaches obtained from experiments; approaches that turn into specific subject-based rules and then become the foundation of the person's life; as you see later, these same laws that some thinking people proposed and perhaps were not very comprehensible in the time and place of their own existence, in subsequent periods become themselves the basis of decision-making. It is interesting what sufferings many thinking humans endured to place what they had obtained at the disposal of others.

The term "specific subject-based rule" has also been used for this reason: it wants to say that the matters that the thinking person proposes all have boundaries and can only cover parts of the issues; meaning no human can speak of issues that are universal, meaning predicting all conditions. Every individual, with attention to the specifications of their own time and place—meaning the conditions in which they live—can have experiences and propose matters; and these thinkers never had such a claim that what they propose must be used exactly in all subsequent eras. Their word was that this can be an introduction for others.

But what do you think is the most significant obstacle to prescriptive guidance? Inactive form-based minds; meaning those same people who are not in pursuit of this topic at all; meaning the potential they had, they never went after it to also be able to think, to be able to analyze. What is the method of inactive minds in contrast to the active minds of thinking people? Relying on habit; repetitive routines; narrative-driven life which is never an analytical life. If you ask them why they have been using this method for years, you do not get a clear answer and it might even lead to difficult situations.

An active mind is a blessing; why is it a blessing? Blessing (Ni'mat) means something that leads to human happiness. Paying attention to an active mind gives quality to shaped life; and it is interesting that those who are of thinking and traverse that process we talked about, the trend of their mind's growth is increasing. Having an inactive mind is just the opposite of that blessing; I used the word "blessing" in the sense that it is something that prevents the mind from being analyzed (meaning being reduced), that is, the level of that individual's mind goes down; because by paying attention and yielding to a life that is empty of meaning, it is obvious that the movement of the level of this person's mind will have a downward trend. Positive progression moves toward self-knowledge; meaning the thinking person gets more acquainted with the station of human, and negative progression, as is apparent, will have no result but confusion and bewilderment.

I hope that in an introductory way I have been able to raise the meaning of prescriptive guidance. I wish you success.
